Ugh. I got a confirmation

Ugh.

I got a confirmation last week that the Better Business Bureau had received my complaint and that the wheels were starting to turn. Today I got a letter (presumably a carbon copy) from a company responding to my complaint. Unfortunately, the BBB sent it to the wrong company (“Encore Marketing International” rather than “Encore Special Events”). What really gets me fired up is that I filled in complete contact information for the right company on the BBB’s online form — name, address, phone number, web address, name of the owner, etc.

I hope this isn’t a harbinger of things to come.

An amusing Obscure Store story

An amusing Obscure Store story for today: Gone in a Flash.

A sad moment in diner

A sad moment in diner history, Ted’s Diner in Milford, MA is demolished. Ted’s was the country’s oldest surviving O’Mahoney diner.

The whole thing sounds a bit sketchy to me, and the word amongst diner enthusiasts in the area seems to be that the rug was pulled out from under the people that wanted most for it to be saved. I hope someone takes the town’s representatives to task.

Yesterday, we headed over to

Yesterday, we headed over to Pier One to pick up some wicker for our porch (finally). I came away from the experience feeling good about my purchase, something becoming more and more rare. The store had the style we wanted for 20% off normal price, plus we signed up for a Pier One credit card which got us another 10% off, and then we paid for part of it with a gift card. We left with a couch, a rocker, and an end table (no cushions, though) for just about $220.

Now — any suggestions about where to get good outdoor cushions without breaking the bank? Pier One has them, but they were a bit expensive.

What a gorgeous day today!

What a gorgeous day today! I’ve taken the rest of the week off to hang out with my sis and niece so I took some time today to do yardwork… weeding, mowing, edging, you know how we do… it was nice to be able to spend some time outside. I need to do it more often.

The Christian Science Monitor has

The Christian Science Monitor has a great article on the state of recycling. Interesting fact: more people recycle than vote in national elections.
