I’m 15…AND I’M AFRAID OF MY BOYFRIEND! – 12/13/00

MAURY talks with teenage girls who are terrified of their boyfriends and they are here to beg them to stop physically and mentally abusing them. Alicia is engaged to a man named Michael who has beat her over fifty times. He says he does it out of love and that if he wants to knock all of her teeth out, it’s his business. Nicole says her boyfriend Terrell has beat her over 100 times and threatened her with a knife because she went to a party. Shawna is 15 years old and is already married and has a child. Her 18 year old husband Tony has beat her numerous times, even when she was pregnant. He admits to hitting her for no reason, but he says that sometimes she “bothers” him and he has to hit her for her to leave him alone. He also says he loves her and their child wants to stop his out of control behavior. Gloria says Joe makes her feel worthless and has hit her simply because she has changed TV channels. All of the guests admit they need help, and MAURY is going to get it for them. First up is Denise. She fought for five years for the strength to leave her abusive husband. She tries to reach the girls and make them see that they can survive without these men. Duane West and Officer David Coleman from the Bergen County, New Jersey jail are going to try and reach the men and teach them to respect the women who love them. MAURY promises to keep in touch with these troubled couples and make sure they get all the help they need.
